2009 brought with it the need for extra efforts, as the international economic crisis left deep marks in STC. Even if production decreased partially, dropping under 50% compared to 2008, STC managed to obtain an additional important customer – KUKA Roboter GmbH (an industrial robots manufacturer).
The challenges brought about by the economic crisis caused a reaction materialized in a drastic cost reduction program, the “PURCHASE” project bringing considerable advantages in terms of costs.
During this year, the Company organized a continuous training program through a PHARE PROJECT, meant to qualify, specialize and improve STC employees by the acquisition of new skills and competences in the following fields: metal cutting, computer use, CNC machine operation, foreign languages and Kaizen.
During the same year, the equipment for the “BERLIN GEARS” project started to be transferred from Mercedes-Benz AG plant in Berlin.
