In 2012, STC has continued the tradition of getting involved in the social life of Cugir. If, in the past, STC contributed to the modernization of Prichindel kindergarten, of the football pitch and I.D.Lăzărescu College, since 2011 the Company began to be actively involved in modernizing the health infrastructure of Cugir city. Although there has been talk about closing the Cugir hospital for various reasons, it continues to exist with the help of local authorities, of the public and of private companies in Cugir, and some hospital rooms and offices have even been modernized.
If, in 2011, STC equipped the operating room in the hospital with an anaesthesia machine required for performing surgeries, in 2012, the Company has sought to assist in creating a modern and safe environment for those who come into this world for the first time – children aged 0-6 months, by sponsoring the modernization of three paediatric wards in the hospital. The electrical installation, plumbing and heating systems were replaced with modern equipment, the walls that were in an advanced state of decay were isolated and painted, a modern child hygiene facility was created, windows and door windows were installed and antibacterial linoleum was applied on the floors .
Besides these facilities, new furniture was purchased to ensure the highest possible comfort for newborns, namely: three consulting tables for infants, three hospital beds and three children’s mattresses. Wall partitions were replaced by windows, which allow health professionals to constantly supervise infants. Upgraded hospital rooms allow the children to stay close to their mothers (baby in room system) as required by UNICEF. The Pediatrics Department of the Cugir Hospital currently has 15 beds, admitting an average of 60 children per month. With all the efforts of our Company, this department needs additional help for the renovation of one more doctor’s office and six more hospital rooms (three rooms for children aged 6 months – 2 years and three rooms for children older than 2 years).
Finally, we would like to ad that the hospital has signed contracts with eight resident doctors who will begin operating in Cugir and we want to let you know that each of us can support the hospital by redirecting 2% of our taxes.
