Making the transition from student to professional is not always an easy task, as students need to apply classroom learning in a professional setting. Thus, internship programs are the perfect opportunity for one to obtain valuable work experience, while still pursuing university studies.

Star Transmission and Star Assembly support higher education by not only providing internship programs at the two companies, but also by directing sponsorships to laboratory equipment, educational programs, competitions and scholarships for students.


Named “Summer Experience”, our internship program started in 2014 and was attended by 16 students from the major university centers in Romania and even Germany. Now, after eight years, more than 400 students completed internships at Star Transmission and Star Assembly.


The predominant profiles of the students are technical and economic, nevertheless our companies offer practical internships in all departments and areas of activity such as procurement, optimization of work processes, logistics, quality, corporate communications, environment, health and safety, human resources and legal. Moreover, at the end of each successful internship, students have the opportunity to obtain a private scholarship from the companies, as a sign of gratitude for the work done. For some of them, it may also pave the way for a full-time position within the organizations.


Depending on the type of internship that they apply for, students may join on either a three, six or 12 month program, being assigned a buddy and mentor to help support their day-to-day experience, as well as giving the advice needed to shape their career.

“Together with a welcoming and ready to help team, I discovered many essential skills for a person in the field of human resources!”, recalls Emanuela Flueraș, Human Resources department.


Andrei Băluțiu, Planning department, also communicates a message for future engineers: “The internship at Star Transmission is the springboard in the career of any engineer!”.


“For me, the main advantage was that I worked in both companies, Cugir and Sebeș, where I was in different departments. Thus, we followed activities related to the production line, the produced gearboxes, repairs; you could soon realize that in any organization, nothing great can be achieved without teamwork and professionalism. I am eager to apply in the future what I learned in these two internships and after completing my studies, maybe even in one of the locations!”, says Laurențiu Capătă, MPS department.


The Star Transmission and Star Assembly internship program is an excellent way to start your career! Many of our current colleagues started with a practical internship. Aurel Lupu, shared his experience with us in this regard: “In my 3rd year of studies I applied for such an internship at Star Assembly. I was an intern for nine months in the Purchasing Department – IPS. During that period, I gained a better understanding of the automotive industry and created a network of connections. However, most importantly, I acquired a clearer view of what it means to be part of a multinational company. Because of this program, another development opportunity came within the company, so I applied for the position of Administrative Clerk in the Human Resources department. After another nine months, I had the opportunity to take over the position of Human Resources Assistant Manager for two and a half years and recently took over the responsibility for Talent Development & Performance Management. Thus, I would advise everyone with all my heart to take the opportunity and apply for an internship because there is much to gain, both professionally and personally!”.
