2015 was the year when important projects such as: “STC has an ID”, “The Long Night of Industry”, “The graduation ceremony of the first class of the German Dual School of Alba Iulia”, were implemented.
14 years ago, a new page in history was being written, a success story. It was the moment we signed the STAR TRANSMISSION birth certificate, a joint venture between Mercedes-Benz AG and the Cugir Mechanical Factory. This is the reason why the STC team said yes, on 19 September 2015, to the challenge of travelling through time, 14 years ago. In other words, STC now has an ID!
The event that allowed visitors to feel the pulse of the automotive industry was “ The Long Night of Industry ”. The incursion into the Star Transmission and Star Assembly facilities was conceived as an alternative to the classic concept of “Open Days”.
STC/STA also witnessed the Graduation Ceremony of the first class of the German Dual School of Alba Iulia , an educational project supported by STAR TRANSMISSION and other companies in Alba county. A part of the graduates will begin their career at Star Transmission and Star Assembly.
STC/STA organized a 3-month Internship program “Summer Xperience – work and fun”, which was attended by students practicing in major academic centres in Romania (Cluj, Oradea, Alba-Iulia, Timișoara, Sibiu) and even in Germany.
“The story of gearbox and gear wheel”, a successful combination of composition and drawing, was filtered and rewritten through the child’s mind. The creative effort of children was rewarded by STC/STA.
STAR TRANSMISSION associated its name with events of national importance: “Festival of Romania” (held in Alba Iulia, on the National Day); Media Music Awards (the biggest music awards gala in Romania, organized in Sibiu), Blaj aLive (Câmpia Libertății, Blaj), “ALBA IULIA CITY RACE” (athletic competition, Alba Iulia).
Among the events in which STC/STA participated as exhibitor, we mention: “Innovation Day” (organized by Bosch Rexroth in Blaj), “Job Shop” (national career event, Cluj Napoca).
An important event in the life of STC was the ceremony for awarding the title of “HONORARY CITIZEN” by the Sebeș Municipality to Mr. Bernd Krottmayer, CEO of Star Transmission and Star Assembly.
The end of 2015 equally coincided with a change at the top of STC. Falk Pruscha was appointed General Manager of Star Transmission and Star Assembly. Mr. Pruscha is a highly experienced manager, and in recent years he has held various senior positions at Mercedes-Benz, most recently as manager of gearbox axle manufacturing. As of 1 December 2015, the former CEO, Bernd Krottmayer, accepted the challenge to become the new manager of production planning at the Mercedes-Benz factory in Untertuerkheim, Germany. Referring to his work in the past five years at the head of the Romania-based company, Mr. Bernd Krottmayer declared that: “what we’ve built together over the past years provides a solid basis for further development. The Company is following an upward trend, the number of employees has increased almost 4 times compared to 2010, and we have great potential and a production unit that has become a strategic asset for the parent company, Mercedes-Benz”. It has been a period marked by the initiation of large projects, for which significant resources have been allocated for infrastructure and training, and the team led by Mr. Bernd Krottmayer has reached nearly 2,000 employees. In gratitude, the STC team dedicated a film to the former CEO.
